Framed oil on canvas, 25 1/2 x 21 1/2; Image 19 1/2 x 15 1/2 Frederick “Ernest T. Fredericks.” Swedlun was born in 1877 in McPherson, Kansas. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and exhibited at the Chicago Art Institute and in the All-Illinois art shows. In Chicago, he created the pseudonym Ernest T. Fredericks and was known for his regional landscape paintings. Later he moved to Eureka Springs, AR where he resumed using his birth name and where he and his son taught art classes. Later works are signed Fred Swedlun. Fredericks/Swedlun died in 1959.
