This deep purple velvet and silk-lined fitted case holds a significant 18k gold and natural prong-set pearls set comprised of a large pendant and drop earrings. Totalling 16.9 dwt weight of 18k gold, the set is far too historic and fine for scrap. It dates to circa 1830-40 and has been in the same Kentucky River farm family for all of its many years. Highly detailed and hand painted, artist signed, carved antique Ivory Jewelry Set, consisting of 2 1/8" tall x 1 1/8" wide pin / brooch and matching earrings. The set features a man in kimono holding a painted scenic fan and carved walking stick. Earrings have at least 950 silver screw backs and show the same man's face and hat. All 3 pieces are signed by the same artist. One earring back is marked "silver" and the other is marked "sterling." I believe one back, probably the sterling one, is a replacement from sometime in the distant past. Great patina, color, and carving!

Marked 925, this old and probably hand-crafted alligator pin or brooch, is quite large at 5 1/2". The 3-dimensional body is highly detailed. The early-style pin back is missing its hook, which could easily be re-constructed. Very striking!
